The aim of this research is to examine the problems in mathematics textbooks that are used in middle schools in the 2020-2021 academic year according to the problem-solving stages. Within the scope of the research, four books published by the Ministry of National Education for the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades were used. The solved problems in the mentioned books were included in the research. The solutions to these problems were evaluated using a rubric prepared for the problem-solving stages of (1) understanding the problem, (2) planning the solution, (3) applying the plan, (4) checking the accuracy and validity of the solution, and (5) generalizing the solution and creating a similar/original problem. As a result of the evaluation, the results suggested that the explanations for the stage of understanding the problem were not included in most of the solved problems in mathematics textbooks at all grade levels. While explanations regarding the stage of planning the solution are mostly included in the fifth- and sixth-grade mathematics textbooks, they are mostly not included in the seventh- and eighth-grade mathematics textbooks. Execution of the plan is properly explained in all solved problems in mathematics textbooks at all grade levels. No explanation was given in the majority of the solved problems at all grade levels regarding the checking of accuracy and validity of the solution. In the problem-posing stage, it was concluded that there is mostly no explanat
